Strategy development

Shared Skills have a solid track record for providing E-Commerce solutions that deliver real business benefits. Effective solutions are always underpinned by a clear and unambiguous strategy that provides practical solutions.

We can work with your organization to a develop a strategy that:

  • is in line with your organization's business strategy
  • takes account of existing working practices and only proposes change where clear benefits are achievable
  • identifies and takes into account the needs of your organization's internal and external stakeholders
  • maximizes the use of the existing technology infrastructure where appropriate
  • follows agreed standards where available
  • uses technologies that should ensure the end solution is adaptable and future proof
  • provides a natural migration path

Different organizations work in very different environments and have different E-Commerce visions. Some companies may be actively trading with their customers using EDI and perhaps contemplating the implications of adopting new technologies such as XML. Others may be considering the introduction of an E-procurement based system. A significant proportion may wish to trade directly with the end customer.

At Shared Skills we have experience of working with customers to provide solutions to meet all of these visions. Once a strategy has been developed, we have the technical experience to assist you in developing a proposal, reviewing tenders and project managing the implementation.

The first step:

The first step is to arrange an initial review meeting in which the objectives and the scope of the project are defined. The meeting would also establish broad timescales and key contacts within the organization. The key deliverable from the meeting will be a Project Initiation Document (PID). The PID will propose a project plan for the development of the strategy.

An alternative first step:

In many cases the client may be unsure of a clear way forward or may simply require some information about practical options. In this situation an E-commerce audit, which is typically conducted over a period of 3-5 days may provide the best starting point.

The following is an example of a document that, at the customer's request, is an E-commerce audit with some strategic proposals. Java-Snacks-Strategy.
